Laptop  vs  Desktop

The main advantage of laptop over desktop is portability.

What could portability mean for users ?

·          If  you have highspeed internet you can  get a wireless router and be on internet anywhere  around .You can use the free wireless internet around bookshops,coffeeshop,universities etc.

Laptops are similar to desktops in all functional features.

You can add as much memory in a laptop as you want by opening the

access door at the bottom.

You can upgrade the hard drive as well.

Negative point about laptops

Replacement of motherboard or LCD screen is very expensive in case you break it.

Battery life may be in the range of 2-3 years depending upon company.They last for 2-3 hours on a charge.

Desktops

 You can replace more parts and at a cheaper price than laptop.

  Desktops with similar configurations to that of a laptop are cheaper.

Cheaper computers have an Intel Celeron processor in them(Centrino are costly).They can run everything except  3D gaming or heavy video processing.

My suggestion is to decide on the basis of  the type of work that you do and your income.If you are a teacher you will find  laptop to be highly useful in presenting seminars,or other teaching activities.A university  student  too will find it more useful.If you are a bussiessman then laptops will have a better impression on  consumers.If you are a housewife you can do with desktop.Laptops unfortunately  as is with many other things  have also become a mark of  social status in some society.
