Horse 101Classes at Hawks Hollow Farm
If you are in the process of purchasing your first horse, or horse boarding farm...if you are a little nervous around horses, but find you just can't stay away from them, if you've ever wondered what it would take to keep a horse...then how about taking the time to learn before you leap. Buying a horse is a big responsibility, and as they say....the purchase of the horse is only the beginning.  Where will you keep your horse? What will you need for your horse? What kind of horse should you buy??  At Hawks Hollow Farm we get these questions all the time.  This is why we decided to call on some of the horse industry's experts to help us create a curriculum to get beginner horse folks on track.  We are offering a four week class that meets Tuesdays 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  We provide handouts, hands on, and certificate at the completion of each level. If you are interested in learning what you need to know to keep a horse, call for more information 410-592-3428.
*****We are currently taking registration for classes, please call for more information.

Natural Horsemanship classes
with CHA certified instructor Jim McDonald start the first Monday of each month.  Please call 410-592-3428 for registration materials.  Registration deadline is the Sunday before classes begin.  Classes are held every Monday evening. * Thanks Jim for the wonderful demonstration last Saturday.

Looking to buy, or lease a horse before you buy? Scenario....Search for horse on web site.  Find perfect horse out west.  Have horse delivered in 100 degree weather. Huge cow stock trailer arrives at farm.  Mud incrusted, ribby horse is unloaded - doesn't look anything like picture, name on halter which is embedded into horses nose reads "Loco." Looks like it will take six months to put weight back on, and four years to "bomb proof", oh..and he/she can't be returned.  Meanwhile, there are so many great horses here in the DelMarVa area just waiting for good homes.  "Try before you buy."  At Hawks Hollow Farm we have some select lesson horses (hey...already trained...) that we are looking to partial lease, and some for sale.  This is a win-win situation for horse, farm, and rider. These horses (owned privately) have been to shows, been on the trails,  participated in 4H events...and...you get to see them before you lease or buy them!!!  If you would like more information on what horses are available, please call 410-592-3428 for more information.  If we don't have what you're looking for, we can point you in the right direction.

Coming Soon to the Farm
Keep checking back for our group trail classes, and open trail rides.  Our classes, taught by Jim McDonald, include a course of trail obstacles just like what you might encounter on the trails.  Jim provides up/down hills, old tires, and spooky things to help desensitize you and your horse.  After completing the training portion of the class, Jim will take the students on a trail ride through our trails.  Not comfortable yet??  Just do 1/2 the class...learn at your own pace.  Call 410-592-3428 for more details.

Family Portrait:  Ok...I don't know of any photo studio that will let you bring your horse into the building.  So...I'm having a photographer come to the farm for family portrait day sometime this spring.  We have some lovely floral blooms that I believe would make for beautiful backdrops. Outsiders are welcome to trailer in for this event.  Check back for more information.

I was recently asked if we would be interested in starting a synchronized riding team.  The answer is yes!!!  I'm currently talking with an instructor/choreographer about what's involved.  If you are interested, please email me so I can add you to an audition list.  Send inquiries to: vweyforth@gmail.com
