Welcome to my "diary" page.
NOTICE: WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE LINK BELOW, I AM CEASING TO USE TIPTOP AS MY OFFICAL WEBPAGES AS OF MAY 1ST. THIS IS BECAUSE OF PERSISTANT PROBLEMS WITH ONE OF MY OTHER WEBPAGES, AND THE BAD ATTITUDE THAT TIPTOP HAS TOWARDS IT'S USERS WHEN THEY ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS. SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE. NOTE: MY NEW PAGE IS UP AND RUNNING. YOU MUST E-MAIL ME FOR THE ADDRESS, IF YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE READING MY DIARY/JOURNAL. IT IS NOT A TIPTOP WEBSITE, SO DON'T LOOK THERE. Okay, I relent; I've had over a dozen inquiries: here, okay? http://nancys-journal.blogspot.com/

I'm just doing it out of boredom...but I guess I should call it bore-dumb, ha-ha. Here they are: http://www.wishbin.com/WebInterface/WishList.aspx?ownerId=1575&listId=2459 This is what I "wish" I had with unlimited funds.http://www.wishbin.com/WebInterface/WishList.aspx?ownerId=1575&listId=2481 This is what I "wish" had if I were comfortably well off, as they say.http://www.wishbin.com/WebInterface/WishList.aspx?ownerId=1575&listId=2520 This is what I "wish" I had if I had a decent income--the most semi-realistic scenerio. This is what people like me do to pass the time when they've got no radio or TV, are tired of reading and re-reading (a first for me) every day, and if they have to play the same computer game one more time are going to run from the house screaming...
April: Just about done setting up my new home--it may not be “Queer Eye” chic, but it’s good enough for me. Yikes! Just figured out why my new bedroom’s so cold…NO heat ducts---anywhere!
So here’s the grand tour: My bedroom literally looks like a barn---pine boards and barn-type doors on both the 2 entrance doors and all the closets--you know, the kind with the wood nailed in a “Z” pattern on the back of the doors, complete with rustic black wrought iron hardware. Even the pitched ceiling is pine boards. Not a speck of paint anywhere, just pine wood--except for the dark beige/grey carpeted floor, of course. It can get pretty dark in there, which I actually like, because it makes it easier to sleep in, in the mornings. The mountain out back blocks some of the afternoon sun, too. The two back windows are nice. They are covered with two slate blue bamboo motif curtains. They are the kind with the little panes of glass, and they crank out. The only problem is, that the guy who put in the hooks for the curtain rods never took the windows into account…so to open the windows, I have to remove the curtain rod…(sigh) Hillbilly’s! There’s a mountain stream and a little one lane bridge underneath my window. Of course, you can hear the noise from the interstate at the top of the hill, but this far north there’s not that much traffic. Awww…Flame has seated herself on my lap and is presently gently licking my arm…maybe she’s hungry? Anyway, with such a dark bedroom it’s a good thing that I have mostly white furniture! I put my cream colored rustic antique country bookcase, my antique white bed, and my white night stand in there, as well as my antique natural bamboo chair with the pale green seat. There’s the white spindled wood table lamp with a paper shade with tulips on it, and on the bookcase is a small white ceramic lamp with roses on the shade. For décor, I put up my Metropolitan Museum Tiffany (the stained glass window with the mountain stream--like the one at the Glens Falls Hospital chapel) poster, and also a couple of small framed floral prints, a framed reproduction Victorian print of Greek ladies on a balcony throwing flowers at a trireme (spelling???--those ancient ships, I mean) below. Also, my framed 1920’s horse print “The Happy Family,” depicting a mare and foal greeting a beagle and her pups, and my little Victorian print of some boy (girl?) saint in a dark Black Forest type frame. On my bookcase, is my folk-art type cream and floral mirror and a tiny print of a famous lesbian Victorian painter in a contemplative pose. On the built in shelf between the two closets/built in dressers, is my little cream/gold pot of silk pansies, and a Ver Meer print of a lady and her maid..can’t remember the name. The room I use as an office is nice. It’s a second bedroom, and was once painted lavender…but now, like the living room and kitchen, it’s white with that awful Martha Stewert pukey pale green trim (guess I’ll just have to get used to that..yuchy, yuchy poo.) The walls of the office are raised in a swirl pattern, and the ceiling is stucco. Like most of the rest of the flat, you really have to watch your head! All the ceilings are low and slanted every which way. Like the bedroom, the doors are all rustic, except two are painted white on one side. There’s a small closet in the office, too, and one in the adjoining hall. There’s a built in shelf that runs halfway up the wall on two sides of the room. I use one shelf for my model horse collection, and the other for my late mother’s little knick-knacks and her doll and some photos from when we were kids. There’s a big square window that swings in, but you can’t open it “cause it’s been sealed shut. Awww…now Flame’s sitting up, resting her paw on my arm and looking at me intently with her head cocked to one side…just like Lassie! I feel like I should start whistling “Green Sleeves.” (The old Lassie series theme music.) Anyway, I put down a cream/beige throw rug in the center, put my desk/chair on it. The carpet is blue, by the way, and very utilitarian, if you know what I mean. My antique white dresser (that matches the bed) has been installed in this room, as well as my rustic “Santa Fe” bookcase that I got from Wal-Mart a few years back. I put my Buffalo Bill stuff on top of the bookcase---my Buffalo Bill decorative music box, my reproduction Remington cowboy sculpture, and my 2nd edition of “Last of the Great Scouts,” Buffalo Bill’s 1900’s biography, as well as the wood and glass candle lamp I bought mom for Christmas back in 1979. On the white dresser is my tiny little Egyptian hand tied carpet depicting the garden of paradise, my white free standing knick knack corner shelf holds two teddies: Napoleon and Josephine, and my Spode bone china mug depicting a fox hunting scene. Below this, on the dresser is my fine antique riding crop and antique comic fox hunter statue (the rider strangely resembles the Planter’s peanut figure), on the other corner is my 1870’s homemade round wood box, my Edwardian treen quill pot/vase, and a little rustic blue/brown celtic ceramic cross. Not much on my desk, except my computer---not hooked up yet---my tiffany style butterfly desk lamp, my vintage harness racing trophy, a couple of vintage western curb bits, my little laughing/waving cow figurine and a tiny scale model Farmall tractor, and my “Nature’s Soothing Sounds” machine. On the floor, leaning against the wall (too big to put up) on either side of the room, is my late mom’s favorite signed print of North Pearl St. in Albany (NY) around 1900 by some guy I’ve never heard of, and my most treasured possession: the George Hoose (Self-taught African American artist from the Berkshires) oil on board painting of “Colorado Roundup” that I got as a birthday gift from my Aunt Mary when I was 7 years old. (unfortunately starting to look the worse for wear, but I still adore it) On the back of the door, hangs my framed 1980’s Tom Baker/Doctor Who poster, and on the walls are my antique castle/monastery plate (San Marino??) and my round framed antique print of Pharoh’s Horses (AKA: Three Kings). My beige curtain with the colorful wildflower print covers the window. The entrance hall is short. I hung my Menands anniversary decorative plate opposite the door, and a gauzy light green curtain over the square window. The hall door has coat hooks, that I use for..coats (and hats). The door is painted the same MS puke green as the trim. The living room is quite roomy---of course the fact that there’s no couch or coffee table might have something to do with that. It has a stucco ceiling, the two windows in front go almost to the floor, and it has a square window on the north side, near the kitchen. The two front windows are covered with white lace curtains. There’s a gas heater in the wall, and the sides of the room slope toward the front, kind of. The entryway is weird..quaint…kind of arched, I guess. Furniture consists of my late mom’s rustic Adirondack stand with the red fox motif, my late mom’s tiny little L-shaped antique golden oak hotel dresser, my green/white plaid glider-rocker, my late mom’s octagonal green faux marble topped Moroccan style end table, there’s the cheap reproduction colonial stand, my 1960’s Lane record cabinet, the little dark antique art-deco bookcase and the antique green bookcase, an antique Mission style straightback side chair, and a green plastic patio chair with a white lace pillow on the seat, in the corner near the kitchen is the tall 1970’s knick-knack shelf. Let see…for décor, there’s my rather heavy antique (Victorian) Saxony fox hunting wall plate above the gas heater on the front wall, and in the corner by the record player is my late mom’s decorative cat plate (that looks like Bootise). Next to the square window is my antique Stubbs’s horse print, Above the reproduction colonial stand is my 3-D porcelain Arabian horses picture, Over the oak dresser is my oriental style oil painting in the rustic frame of a bluebird and blossoms. On the fox stand is a framed wedding picture of my mom, my western jinglebob spur clock, a mission style wood lamp on an antique lace doily. On the oak dresser is a picture of my nephew when he was little and a tiny collie figurine on the small upper part, on the longer lower part of the dresser (L-shape, kind of) is a reproduction ironstone blue willow pitcher filled with silk flowers. On the octagonal end table is an oriental type table lamp, a photo of my late dad, a little hand made clay figurine of an Egyptian man sitting reading the newspaper (My dad passed on before I could give him this little gift--dad loved reading his newspaper), and my reproduction 1930’s/40’s telephone. On the record cabinet is simply my reproduction phonograph and a small pewter/tiffany glass hummingbird lamp. On the art-deco bookcase is a decorative plate featuring three bay throrobred stallions, and a vintage ceramic collie. On the green bookcase is my late father’s potted silk petunias that someone had given him, and some personal photos. The knick-knack shelf contains some of my model horses and my late mom’s vintage cat figurines, plus some family photos. The reproduction shelf, on top, has a vintage green glass vase filled with silk lilacs, my late mom’s coin bank in the form of an angel with a dress and little hat and lilacs, and a brass lamp that belonged to my late dad, sitting on a antique lace doily. On the bottom is a little book rack containing classic books with fancy bindings. And that’s it. The living room rug is kind of grayish beige. The kitchen is very small, it has a decent size fridge, but a tiny little stove. Not much shelving, but there is a built in corner cupboard, and a built in corner shelf above the sink. Two square windows: uneven heights…one above the fridge, one over the sink. There’s my microwave at the end of the counter. Ceiling slopes here too, hard to fit stuff in. My vintage 1960’s Pepsi tray and vintage Nehi and 7-Up bottles next to the microwave by the sink. Spice rack and little cutting board next to the fridge. Put my vintage apron, the slow cooker, pots, pans skillets and odd dishes under the corner cupboard. The open shelves of the corner cupboard house my cobalt blue glass dishes and glassware, my vintage Penn. Dutch style white enamel covered pot, cookbooks, an antique family photo and some odds and ends. The built in shelves over the sink hold measuring cups, odds and ends of cooking needs. The top shelf, which is hard to reach, holds a dog figurine that my mom gave me, and a California Pottery 1960’s (?) funky cat figurine. On the wall over the microwave is a 1970’s British reproduction of a 1900’s Coke print. There’s my corner shelf that matches the kitchen table in the other corner. This houses antique and modern oriental knick-knacks and family photos. There’s the little black kitchen table that seats two, the two chairs with the muted pastel/grey multiclolored padded seats, and the floor lamp with shade that matches one of the colors in the seats…looks like a Japanese lantern. On the wall is a framed print of the oriental painting “The Wave.” There’s a garbage can next to the bathroom door. The floor is black and white lineoleum. The bathroom is really postage stamp size…a tub, a toilet and ridiculously tiny sink and some built in shelving. Doors leading to the kitchen and bedroom both have mirrors on them, which is nice. Nautical motif. Shower curtain (that surprisingly matches the linoleum on the sink/floor is ships and a port town…beige and blue and dark red. There’s a waste basket that matches the shower curtain and a soap dish too. There’s a very small framed bad oil painting of an 18th century sailing ship and a little decorative 3-D plate of a sailing ship, ocean and rocks--a tourist item from “La Roche Pierce” Quebec, a cheap rag style throw rug in muted pastels. The linen closet where I keep the towels, cleaners and tools is in the little space between the bath and bedroom. Have to step up to get to the bedroom, by the way…kind of annoying in the middle of the night, ha-ha. And that’s pretty much it. Lots of books and a few more odds and ends. My clothes, of course. Use handmade quilts, mostly, in the bedroom…and there’s the end of my tour. Not much, but it’s good enough for me…and it’s more than what a lot of other people I’ve met have. There’s a storage cupboard taking up most of the wall in the bedroom, has shelving, but mostly I use it for the litter box and food dishes for the cats…keep the door partly closed so the smell doesn’t waft around too much. All in all, not a bad arrangement…now if I can just make the rent each month…
April whatever: Having weird dreams--dreams like I’ve never had before! They’re like little movies…stories playing in my head..and I’m not even in some of them! Stories about wars and heroes (not me), historical stuff…weird! Where’s it all coming from??? I don’t have TV or radio or even the computer (I’m hand writing these entries). Haven’t read much lately---but I did read a so-so western and a short Jack Higgins novel…Man, have I been sick! Pneumonia while I was moving. Now I’ve got bronchitis! It hurts to breath…and dang! I’m so very tired of coughing! My voice is shot…I sound like that deep voiced kid on those old Our Gang movies…yuch, my nice professional voice, down the toilet. Made my first real meal today. My cherry chicken over couscous with brussel sprouts on the side. It was okay. Boring eating alone…not even a radio or tv for company…can’t eat around the cats…not chicken, anyway…they’d not leave me in peace. At least here I can lock them up while I eat. Still, I suppose eating alone in silence is an excellent way to lose weight…no distractions, just the food, so you concentrate more on when your tummy is full, maybe.
Well...not sure I'm gonna' keep this page going....it keeps "eating" my entries...errasing them for no good reason...one minute they're there, next minute, "poof!" gone forever. It stinks. Stupid Tiptop is going to the dogs lately...or some miserable dog is screwing around...don't know....don't really care that much...I'll just use some other site. Good luck trying to find it.
