Established in 1984-85, The Shepherd's Fold Ministry consists of 5 homes in the West End of Birmingham, Alabama. The goal of our initial 4 month program is to provide a thoughtfull and helpfull transition for men from prison to the free world.
Our 4 month program takes place in the main house which has 24 beds, provides breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday through Thursday and has groups in the evening from 7:00PM to 8:00PM dealing with The Bible, Fatherhood, Budget and Finance and Promise Keepers. Rent in the main home is $80.00 per week.
If a man completes the 4 month program successfully, he has the option of entering our graduate program for up to an additional year. Shepherd's Fold has four separate homes for graduates. These homes have 4 bedrooms, a complete kitchen. washers and dryers, central heat and air and have a very affordable price of $70.00 a week with all utilities included.
Shepherd's believes that helping, not enabling men, is the key to an effective trasnsition to the free world. In that spirit, we assist the men to get Ids, provide bus tokens to help the men look for work and encourage the men to save money so they will have the means to move when the time comes. Rather than simply feeding the men a fish, we believe in the concept of teaching men to fish so they can feed themselves.
