Our Mission

Women Empowered By Books (WEBB) Book Club is a book club for women who loves to read.  First and foremost, WEBB's mission is to spread love, knowledge, devotion, and respect.  The love for literature brings us together in harmony.  Through reading, we obtain knowledge which empowers us to strenghten our bond as committed women.

We engage in funderaising activities and will plan social events in an effort to enrich our community.  As the spiritually minded members of WEBB, this is our mission statement.

Our Meetings

Our monthly meeting are held one Saturday of each month.  Each month a member host a discussion meeting.  The members participates in a potluck.  Meeting are held January through November unless there is a special event schedule.  The month of December celebrates the holiday in which we have a Christmas Party.

Book of the Month (May 2008)

"Crab In A Barrel " by Byron Harmon

When a yachtful of party-goers headed for the Bahamas are shipwrecked and wash up on a remote island, the diverse group-most but not all African-Americans, from a wide range of different backgrounds-are left with the usual survivor struggles: to find food, shelter themselves, and try to figure out how to get back to civilization. But in their case, they also have to try not to kill each other in the effort. The isolation and extreme circumstances combine to aggravate the social differences that already separate the group, and tensions rise and flare immediately. Before long, the different castaways-including a beautiful waitress/med student, a wealthy lawyer, a Brooklyn thug, a Black Muslim, and two gold-digging cousins-square off and start firing about their differences, their grievances, and their opinions in exchanges that are as funny as they are explosive.
