What the top ten Idols are up to...

Sanjaya Malakar:

Sanjaya was the winner of The 2007 Teen Choice Awards on August 26th 2007 for category of Best TV Reality Star. All that we could find out is that Sanjaya and his sister, Shyamali, are planning to sing together in the future. They are reportedly writing an album together which will be set for release in early 2008. Sanjaya also eventually plans on going to the Berklee College of Music with Shyamali. Sanjaya would like to have it all as he has expressed his interest in music, acting, modeling, and any other opportunities that arise. Sanjaya Malakar's American Idol CD album 'Sanjaya Malakar', and some singles were offered on iTunes starting June 10th, 2007. The Sanjaya Malakar album has reached Top 100 Pop Albums in sales.

Jordin Sparks:
Jordin signed a contract with Jive Records earlier this month in conjunction with 19Recordings, the label managed by "Idol" creator Simon Fuller. Her debut album will be released in November, and her new single, "Tattoo," was released to radio stations just recently.

Blake Lewis:
His CD, "Audio Daydream (ADD)," already has eight songs. "It's your favorite '80s mix tape," Lewis said, "very inspired by Michael Jackson, Prince, Erasure, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, the Cure. It's all over the map, really -- very influenced by '80s hip-hop, old school breaks, whatever." On June 21, 2007, Lewis disclosed in his blog at MySpace that on top of the American Idol tour, he has "been in meetings with producers and writers" for his album, though his record deal with Arista Records/19 Recordings was not announced officially until August 24. Lewis has been recording his album in the studio "for all night long" since June 18.

Chris Richardson:
Chris plays the guitar, drums and the piano. He also draws and writes his own songs and poetry. Has been writing songs with Jordin and Blake that may eventually end up on their albums. He has said that he would like to make a "rock and soul" album. The album, will be a mix of both rock, soul/r&b. "It'll be a mixture of a Maroon 5 sound with a little bit of Jason Mraz," said Richardson. Chris Sligh stated on his personal blog that he, Phil Stacey, and Chris Richardson will "be heading off to studios somewhere (after the American Idols Live! Tour) to work on their debut major label records" and then added, "or at least it looks at this point like all 3 of themwill be on major labels." However, it is unclear as to which label Richardson will be signed to, since his contractual obligations with American Idol limit his ability to sign with any labels until after the American Idols Live! Tour.

LaKisha Jones:
LaKisha Jones says that she will also be focusing on two goals after the American Idol tour: A record contract and a new home, (which is likely to be in Houston, Texas.) The 27-year old single mother from Fort Meade Maryland, wants to do a gospel-spiritual album or a soul albulm or perhaps both. She also said that she would be interested in doing some Broadway.

Haley Scarnato:
The sexy, leggy brunette wants to go to Nashville and make a country album after the tour. As a side note, all of Haley's studio recorded songs from American Idol are now available to buy from iTunes, including the songs "Turn The Beat Around", "Ain't Misbehavin'", "True Colours", "Missing You" and "Tell Him". Haley's EP appeared the first day it was released on the Itunes Pop charts along with all the other Top 8 contestants, but she fell off within a day.

Phil Stacey:
Phil also wants to make a country album. On May 19, 2007, Chris Sligh stated on his personal blog that he, Phil Stacey, and Chris Richardson will "be heading off to studios somewhere after the American Idols Live! Tour to work on their debut major label records" and then added, "or at least it looks at this point like all 3 of them will be on major labels." However, it is unclear as to which label Stacey will be signed to, since his contractual obligations with American Idol limit his ability to sign with any labels until after the American Idols Live! Tour. Phil, along with the 11 other finalists from Season 6, released an EP via iTunes. The EP peaked at #80 on the iTunes Pop 100.

Chris Sligh:
Chris Sligh stated on his personal blog that he, Phil Stacey, and Chris Richardson will "be heading off to studios somewhere after the American Idols Live tour to work on their debut major label records"

Gina Glocksen:
Hopes to record "something pop-rock, like ... Pink." Glocksen has also expressed that she would like to star in the Broadway musical, Wicked.

Melinda Doolittle:
The one time backup singer has yet to sign a deal, but expect an old-school combo of soul, R&B and funk. Doolittle has stated that she plans to work on a CD, and that it would be "soul music". Melinda will be joining Michael W. Smith on his upcoming Christmas tour.
