DUPLIN SHERIFF ISSUES IMPOSTER TELEPHONE SCAM ALERT

Sheriff Blake Wallace wanted to alert the public of a telephone scam within the county.  Duplin County Sheriff's Office has been advised that a friendly individual is calling soliciting money for Duplin County Sheriff's Office.  This individual has been stating that they work for Duplin County Sheriff's Office and need your contribution to help our agency purchase bulletproof vests.  In addition, the individual has been stating that you have made contributions to our agency in the past.  THIS IS A SCAM.  Our agency does not solicit funds for any reason.  If you receive a phone call of this nature, please hang up.  If you have caller identification capability on your phone, please write down the origin of the call and notify our office.  Please be sure and DO NOT give any personal information to the caller.  If you receive a phone call of this nature, please contact our office at (910) 296-2150 or 911.

DUPLIN SHERIFF ISSUES SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE SCAM ALERT

Sheriff Blake Wallace is reminding the citizens to not allow strangers in your home.  Our agency has recent information of two males advising that they are at your residence to help you receive Social Security and Medicare.  When the homeowner allowed the men to enter the home, the men robbed the home of money and valuables.  If someone comes to your home and you are unsure of them, please call 911 and our agency will send a Deputy to your home.  Please remember to write down a description of the individual(s) and information of the vehicle they are driving (i.e. color, tag number) and provide the information to the Duplin County Sheriff's Office.  Please contact our office at (910) 296-2150 if you have any questions.
