Shonna Cole 05-21-2009 8:05:30 PM EST On earth as it is
I dream a patient dream
An ancient dream that floats
up and over a sea of grief,
a raft to ride us home.
It is the reason why we gather,
the reason why we pray.
Prayer is more than words we say.
Words are a scaffold to look from
a frame to hold the scene.
But the word I pray is “Kingdom,”
to build the kingdom is the reason,
stone by stone, story by story.
A simple dream, a simple prayer:
“Thy Kingdom Come.
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.”
On earth, is it as in heaven?
It has never been.
But remember a time, not long ago,
the world was darker, much darker than the world we know
Think with me how far we’ve come,
Look at what we’ve done.
First, we are a people vast,
vast as grass on a planetary plain.
We stand one against another
living our days we rub together
time like wind through the grain.
We are billions.
Earth moans under
the weight of our hunger.
But we feed more
than ever walked the earth before.
Though far too many starve,
more are fed and tucked in bed
than ever camped hungry under the stars.
This story is one of the stones
with which we build The Kingdom.
Think, where is there now one nation
that openly gives sanction
to economy built on slavery?
People are nearly free
of that ancient disease of humanity.
And here, where black men once hung from trees,
we now have democracy
that raised a black man to the presidency
This story is one of the stones
with which we build The Kingdom.
You and I - we speak together,
we read and meet and teach.
Now more minds come alive through learning
than ever in eons of yearning
to see beyond the village walls.
We, and the billions, can listen to us all.
We can see
to the far corners of humanity.
Though war and hunger would make us mute,
minds are writing, and like fishers of men
the great net gathers in stories of the resolute.
These stories are stones
with which we build The Kingdom.
And here, where we gather together
We come as one to serve, to give, to grow.
We stamp our feet,
all feet the same with wiggly toes,
we meet on common ground.
We march, we sing, we pray together
When have so many conceived the dream of unity?
When have so many remembered that we are one humanity?
When have so many stepped up and out to freely serve the people?
Their stories are stones
with which we build The Kingdom.
And even our tears for continued atrocity
flow out of compassion for shared humanity.
That we have grown to recognize
the acts that dehumanize
means we are building The Kingdom now.
Everywhere I see people building up The Kingdom.
Up from the ruins of grief and slaughter,
out from blood of shot-gunned martyrs,
we build again our holy house.
Our stones are reason, justice, and hope.
Our stones are learning, freedom, and votes.
We build.
We build though our hands are calloused and cold.
We build with broken hearts so old
we will not live to sleep in that home.
But still we build with every tenderness
and with our growing faith
for the Kingdom is within
where all transformation begins.
And in building we remember
why we gather,
why we pray.
In whatever words you say,
Pray:
Thy Kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven
Thy Kingdom Come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven

Marty Dow thought.service2@ifcl.com 05-04-2009 10:45:56 AM EST Today's Positive Visualization
As I allow myself to relax, I release the old patterns I have held about the world. I clear my mind of the residuals of the race mind and the outer pictures I see in the media. I let go of my past experiences with the world and open to
perceive the image of God's divine design for heaven on earth. In my mind's eye, I see the world the way God intended it to be, filled with love and light. I see the hearts of people all
over the world opening to love. I see people freely sharing their resources with others because they know that God's supply is always unlimited. I see a world filled with peace
and prosperity where everyone lives in freedom. I see children joyfully playing knowing that they are always safe from harm. I see a world truly at peace and God's good will manifesting
in every person's life. I combine these images with the feeling of joy and let them go, knowing that they will create the good things I am visualizing and thinking.

Sequoia Elisabeth Carpenter 04-28-2009 2:06:32 PM EST Share your vision of the society that you prefer to live in. I am sure you have seen science fiction versions or fantasy movies that show possible societies. Here is your chance to share YOUR vision. How do people interact, communicate, travel, eat, sleep, wash, and live? Where do they do all this? What does it all look like? Well you get the idea, so be free and dream a little dream! But beware what you wish for....
J.R. Jones jrjones1701@yahoo.com 03-15-2009 3:40:25 PM EST The best possible society is an it's way, as promised! We so often search for Heaven on Earth that we forget that we are not ready for it and that our imaginations can't really comprehend it yet, We need to heal first! We are getting closer each day that we strive to be active in our own healing process, and that starts with me, the inward journey is simple yet hard to undertake, but I must so that my part in making a better society is understood.

by Charlotte Perkins Gilman (1860-1935)
Herland is a utopian novel from 1915, written by feminist Charlotte Perkins Gilman. The book describes an isolated society comprised entirely of Aryan women who reproduce via parthenogenesis (asexual reproduction). The result is an ideal social order, free of war, conflict and domination. It first appeared as a serial in Perkin’s monthly magazine Forerunner.
