Nikki, I look forward to going there and THIS time I'm gonna do "exactly" what the Doc. says sooooooooo I'm gonna be good as new in no time at all and we will go there. Just looking at all the pic's you took was awesome. I can visualize it all clean and pretty and it's a very nice pic in my mind. Good luck on the clean-up and I hope you get lots and lots of help, if not maybe later on I can go back and help somewhat, I would really enjoy that. Luv ya.....Aunt Cathy

Aunt Cathy- Yes the cemetery will be hard to clean-up. There are obvious signs that visitors have come to the cemetery and left flowers, etc. on some of the headstones. The most recent date that someone is buried there is 2002. And the earliest person buried there, said to be in the early to mid- 1800's. Possibly dating in to the 1700's. The cemetery is old and should not be in its current state. My experience walking around the cemetery last Sunday was awesome! It felt so excited wondering around and looking for more headstones and more areas were people are buried. It seems as though people were buried in sections, some with fences. ALL of the fences are bent, broken down, or pulled down and covered with vines. A section about 30' x 30' has headstones, mostly from the late 1900's to 2002. This section is all dirt-ground and mostly free from any vines, leaves or brush. Neighboring that section is another section which has the same dirt-ground with hand-written place markers. Is the cemetery visited often? No, but people do go! When we get you all fixed up, I want to take you there. I love talking about this cemetery, I hope so many people get involved. I-B-Lovin-Ya

Hi Miranda and welcome to the website. I hope you are able to find answers you are looking for. My dad lived in Michigan for a lot of years but was originally from Eastern Kentucky. E-mail Danielle (web host) for info on the Colegrove's. Her email is dnhrose@aol.com

Hey EVERYBODY!!! Be sure to check out the new link added to the home page. Danielle is working very hard and putting in a lot of hours to getting this project going. Please show your support even if it's just a message to let her know you appreciate her. We can use lots of volunteers and hopefully we can find the Colegrove headstones we are looking for. Volunteer time or products or both. Any would be greatly appreciated.

I think it's great that you put this site together. I am interested in tracing back my line of the Colegrove family. My grandfather died when I was probably 9 though and no one seems to know very much. I know he came from Kentucky to the Upper Peninsula Michigan probably close to 60 years ago. I am pretty sure we're not in the same line, but I think we are with you at least through Francis, Francis, Jeremiah, Jeremiah. Then I don't know. My grandfather's name was Samuel. I'm going to try to find out more (like at least his birth date and hopefully his parents' names). This site is inspiring! Thanks.
