The family ranch has had the name of Hidden Valley for over 80 years, thus, Hidden Valley Cavaliers. We are nestled within the Sierra Foothills of California, East of Sacramento.
My husband and I have cared for animals all our lives. We have cared for a variety of traditional farm and ranch animals, the occasional raccoon, squirrel and pet skunk.
Now about our Cavaliers, we are unable to describe how “Heart Stealing” the Cavalier King Charles Spaniels really are! My family laughs at me, “the hard case that has been cracked”. I have never been on to let an animal in my lap, wow, that has certainly changed.
As you will read in many Cavalier King Charles Spaniel books, this breed of dog is unlike the ‘usual’ dog many of us are used too. Our family can most certainly attest to the fact that they are ‘a breed set apart’; they have a kind and gentle attitude, and the love that they truly want to share with you is unmatched. And yes, if they get into trouble or dig a hole in chase of a gopher, you will still think they are something special!
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is sturdy for their delicate build, and they have the will of a lion, yet they still need care and supervision, much more than the usual dog as their sense of self preservation and common sense is definitely outweighed by their curiosity. They have absolutely no fear and are often oblivious to danger.
Grant you they are not for everyone, but if you have time for grooming, and would like a companion who will lie quietly by your side or snuggle with you, and then you don’t mind if they drive you nuts for awhile (our 7 mo. old) then the Cavalier may just be the dog for you.
Before buying your puppy, please be sure to study about the breed, as they require specific care. Of course, we will give you all the help we can and you may find we have the right pet for you.
