If there was a fight at Bajio, nobody seems to have seen it and the police were not called. So what ever it was, I don't know if you can call it a fight. It would be better if we had a central covered lienzo. The problem is, that kind of facility would mean everyone working together and government assistance. There is no way any one teams, or even all the teams could get the land and money together. If you look to Mexico, all the big lienzo have government help.

To Jeff, I agree with you, it was a bit dusty, traditionally that happens when there is not enough mositure in the ground or in the air. The ground will dry, and when it is windy due to climate change, the dry particles in the gound and in the air begin to move around creating dust that many times will stick to your clothes. At this time the only solution that we can provide is to water the arena in such a way that the dirt or dust subsides, But we can only water so much so that it does not endanger the riders. As for dust outside of the arena, we hope and pray for water or rain. Another solution is to have a covered arena. If you think that you can help with that please contact Mr. Randy because we really could use your support in breaking ground on this new venue. As of now we have no alternative but to just ride outside and get a little dusty. As for the fight, I too heard there was one.. but that happens even in soccer. I did see that the organizers did have security, but usually these scuffles end before security can get there. We really look forward to having your support and patronage with the wind and dust problem. Until then lets just hope its not too windy and the next event.

To Jeff; Bexar County will not build an arena for the Charros, like they did for the cowboys. The government does not support Charreada like Rodeo. I noticed that you did not say anything bad about the ability of the Charros and Charras. They were great. They did not have problems with the dust. They are not Drug Store cowboys.

Had a great time at El Bajio this weekend. Pancho Flores was as good as ever. He makes Paso look easy. He had better watch out though. The Hernandez boy is getting pretty good. The girls was as fantastic. It is realy wonderful to see how the Charros and Charras work together.

The damacharra web page is back up. We hope that it will be used to promote the Escaramuza and get information out to the teams. We believe the web page format is better at keeping information like calendars and team addresses, which disappear in the facebook format, where postings move down each time something new is posted

Mr. Janssen, you forgot to say that Arnulfo is honest. Too many Charros just want to get an office to get something for themselves, Arnulfo is not like that, he loves Charreria and want it to grow.

For many years Arnulfo Duran has been the "go to guy" in South Texas Charreada. Now he has said he is running for the "Deligado", for the Southern Zone. Arnulfo is smart and a great businessman. He has had some great ideas to raise money and he has good connections with bands and Mariachis. He has been there for all Charreada and he will work hard to make it better for all Charros, not just a few.

More people then usual are visiting my Mangana web page. The same thing happened when Org., Col., and Nev., refused to pass anti Charro legislation. No state has passed anti Charro laws since I put up the page. Now that Nev. is looking at outlawing mangana and cola, again, I was contacted by some of the Nev. legislature. Apparently the proponent of the laws is saying that the anti Charro laws in other states has not stopped Charreria. I pointed out that the only State that has banned both is Nebraska. I also pointed out that the Charros in Nebraska, have to Charrear in Iowa. I also said that every time a State passes anti Charro legislation, it validated the Ar fanatics depiction of Charros as being cruel and barbaric. That is why I started the page in the first place. Cruel and barbaric is what Thelia Williams said about Charros to get the Ariz. anti Charro laws passed. I know that Charros are "gente de caballo" who would never intentionally hurt animals. Charros certainly would not continue doing mangana, if most of the horses die, like the fanatics say. That is why the Charros need to stop the passage of new laws against Charreada and why they should mount an effort to change the laws in the states have passed anti Charro legislation. To dispel the myth of Mexicans as being cruel and barbaric and stop the discrimination against their culture.

There was a good turnout at El Bajio for the first Charreada of the season. Everybody was enthused. Looks like it will be a great year for Charros and Charras. The vet was there doing coggins test so everyone is ready for the Battle of Flowers Parade. Margareta Medina and Randy Janssen have the sign in sheets for the Parade. They need to be in by April 1.

Dear Mr. Janssen and Cecilia, Hope all is well in San Antonio. I have been contacted by Robin Rosenthal producer of "Escaramuza: Riding from the Heart." She stated that the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center will be hosting CineFestival 2013 in San Antonio Texas and that on Sunday February 24 at 12:00 noon will be the screening of her short-film "Escaramuza: Riding from the Heart." She will be flying in to be present and wanted to invite out as many escaramuza as possible in San Antonio who may be interested in purchasing a ticket and coming out to the screening dressed in full escaramuza attire. She wants to make a big impression to show that there are many people who support this sport. I was hoping you two could cordinate something and get the word out. Maybe even a couple nice, clean-looking charros doing some trick roping while people arrive at the center. Someone from the Festival Center is supposed to contact me but being that I am in Houston this task will be more difficult for me. Please confirm if you guys would be interested and could contact all the capitans. Sincerely, Beatriz Flores
