Please go to kickstarter.com and watch the pitch video on Escaramuza!! It is such an amazing project by Robin & Bill, who have been working on this short film for over 2 years. Documenting and filming the charreada of the Escaramuza is so exciting. They are incredibly brave horsewomen who are brave and challenged in this competition. This is a one of a kind documetary on exclusively Escaramuza and deserves to be in all the cataglogs for schools and libraries as well as the public. SO with that said please watch the video but most importantly go to the link below this post and consider a donation at kickstarter.com. If they do not raise that money in the days alotted to them it will not go through. Just think what $10 could do for the preservation of Escarmuza and educating the public on this amazing sport!! We visited the Charreada Sun the 23rd. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We did not stay all day, but would have liked to. It was fascinating to see the different ways of doing some of the same things that we do in rodeo too. Would like to get back next Sun to see the ladies, but am not sure we will be able to. We appreciate a couple of "gringos" being welcomed. Our Spanish is not that good, so did not follow all of the rules etc that was announced but we caught enough to pretty well understand. Also I had printed out one page from your web cite that explained the events some. Mike took lots of pics. Thank you again. Had a great time! Carolyn and Mike Lowrance - - - - Houston

Had a great time at the first weekend of the finals. Espuelas de Plata were really hot. Victoriano Flores rode the wild mare and he was fantastic. The horse fell on its back and he stayed on, got up with the horse and finished the ride. Then he helped in mangana. He is 63. Most 20 year olds would have been taken to the hospital or even worse.

The Coleadero and Charreada scheduled last Saturday and Sunday at Bajio, had to be canceled because of rain. We really need a covered lienzo. Without that we are at the mercy of the weather.

Had a great time at Los Compadres, 11 teams and an escaramuza. The teams were good. Wonderful florero in turna and mangana. Las Valentinas put on a good show.

Remember, that on Sunday May 9 (Mothers day), there will be a charreada sponsored by Los Caporales at Checo Galindo's lienzo. The address is 175 S. Loop 1604. I am told there will be 9 teams and three charreadas. Also the long awaited raffle will be held. Sorry about the delay, but things will get better. My wife and Rogelio's wife were discussing the ranch dance for the fund. Looks like it will be in June and admission will be $5.00 per person. The escaramuzas will draw to determine who sells what. Beer and sodas will be sold by the charros. The proceeds from the gate and beverage sales will go to the fund and the food profits will go to the different escaramuzas. We want to be fair about this, while working to promote charreria. Viva Charreria.

Just got a nice note from the Battle of Flowers Parade along with the First Place Ribbon. The want us back next year. Rogelio Cruz is having a competition on Sunday May 2 at Checo’s . There will be another one on May 9 at the same place. Then the State finals will be there on the 22 and 23 then the 27,28,29 and 30 of May. Sounds like a very busy month. It is great to have so much going on. Remember to support your favorite team.Viva Charreria.
