The people who want to ride in the rodeo parade need to be at the parking lot under Hy 35 at Houston street between 8:00 am and 9:00 am on Saturday January 29. Solomon Rodriguez has the releases you need to sign so you can ride. If you need more information call me at 846-8757. Thanks and Good Luck. I am going to be at Bajio tomorrow, Sunday January 16, between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. I will be taking application pictures for anyone who wants them. No charge. I will have the copies ready at Bajio on Monday, January 17after 5 p.m. Also, the charreada at LaForteleza is canceled due to rain. We really need a covered lienzo. We all need to work for this.

Sorry, but the January 9, Charreada had to be canceled due to rain. We really need a covered arena. It has been rescheduled to January 16. Will be there to raise money with the 50/50 raffle. Hope to raise a lot of money to help injured charros.

The Charros de Bejar, are going to have a 50/50 raffle on Sunday, at Melecio Flores Charreada. Tickets will be $1.00. We will sell tickets during the chareadas and at the end, a drawing will be had. The winner will receive 50% of the money paid for tickets and the other 50% will go to the Injured Charro Fund. So the more tickets you purchase, the more the winner will receive. Hope it is you!

Anyone who wants to ride in the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Parade on January 29, needs to contact Randy Janssen at 846-8757 for the forms before January 15. Also the Charros de Bejar will be in the Battle of Flowers Parade, and if you want to ride in it you need to sign up and have a coggins test before March 1. Only 20 spaces are available

We had an interesting state meeting of the Texas Charros yesterday. After a lengthy discussion, the members unanimously voted to assess $150.00 per Texas team, to begin a lawsuit against Nebraska. The consensus was, that the animal rights fanatics can not be reasoned with or trusted. If you need proof of this, go to youtube, search “horse tripping” then watch the video about “Mexican Rodeo”. Then read the profanity filled comments against Charros. They call us cruel and barbaric. Cathleen Doyle says the same thing, in her web site, along with Thelia Williams in Arizona. Texas Charros think it is time we stand up to these people, who use lies and half truths, to attack a beautiful and historic culture.

Just got this message from a very bright young lady. Have you thought about or can you do 50/50 tickets? You buy a chance to split the total amount collected in half. 50% goes to the winner and 50% to the injury fund. Sell these tickets at all events. They do it all the time at speedways in Oklahoma which is where I am from. And if you need a volunteer...I would love to help. I am studying Spanish now is the only problem and I speak limited Spanish. Please contact me via my email. I love the charreadas...I found my way to them quite by accident and this website! Bea Flores asked me to put up the Dama Charra message board. She thinks this will greatly facilitate the exchange of ideas between charras. I really am glad to help the women of charreria. She also sent some money for the injured charro fund. That is greatly appreciated. The bank account is getting low. We really need to work to get more funding. This is something we all have to do. It cannot be done by one person. The PRCA has a fund for cowboys who are hurt in rodeo. We can do the same. If everyone worked two hours a month to help the fund, we could give real money to help our injured team mates.

Hello everyone! Well let me begin by saying that I plan on starting my own Escaramuza Team. No, I won't be riding, but I will be directing it. So far I have 6 girls. I plan on it being a juvenil team since all the girls are between the ages of 12 and 15. The girls that I have all know how to ride and some have ridden on teams already. If anyone has a daughter, grandaughter, niece, or whatever and is interested please let me know.They don't need to be experianced I just want them to have GANAS to ride! I plan to start practices pretty soon at my dad's ranch. I would love to Federate the team so they may participate at competitions.
